After much anticipation, Sacai officially launched the Sacai Vaporwaffle, the latest installment in their ongoing collaboration. The VaporWaffle first appeared in early 2020 during Sacai’s Fall 2020 Menswear runway show, showcasing a design that was even more abstract than its predecessor, the LD Waffle Sacai.
The Sacai Vaporwaffle Black/White draws inspiration from the original Waffle sole, reimagining it with a thicker, stacked midsole that extends beyond the heel. The upper, reminiscent of the Cortez, is made entirely of black suede and mesh for enhanced breathability, replacing the traditional leather. Sacai continues its signature layered aesthetic by incorporating a second white Swoosh and an additional tongue.
The Sacai Vaporwaffle Black/White was released in November 2020.
